WHAT: An Ipswich town celebration that will showcase local citizens, businesses, and town government to demonstrate Ipswich’s community commitment to be sustainable. The afternoon festival is free to the public, and Ipswich welcomes individuals to come learn, have fun and experience examples of a community striving to improve its sustainability. WHEN: Sunday July 12, 2009 1-5pm WHERE: Ipswich Riverwalk, EBSCO parking lots, and Memorial Green EVENTS: Ipswich goes GREEN Miniature Golf Course Local Artists, Architects, and tinkerers will design and build a miniature golf course for the public to use and enjoy. The each mini-golf hole will reflect environmental themes, and will use recycled and natural materials. Fun for all ages. North Shore Localvore - Local and Organic Food Featuring local farms, fishers, food producers, and markets from and around Ipswich that provides a unique local, organic and sustainable food culture on the North Shore. **Special Localvore Activities** Seafood Throwdown! – Two Ipswich chefs will compete in an ultimate seafood cookoff, sponsored by the Cape Ann Fresh Catch community supported fishing and Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance. Ipswich Planning board, DPW, IMLD, Open Space, Recycling Committee, Town Committee on Energy Use, Ipswich Schools will provide examples on how commitment at the Municipal level is needed for sustainable efforts.
