Great Raffle and Auction Items Bands Include: BRAZZ TREE Click Here to learn more about Brazz Tree “a sublime, surprising, bristling and hearty stew of Irish lyricism, daredevil jazz aerobatics and punk rock moxie.....both the elegance and the energy are off the chain. “ Greg Tate, Village Voice NYC-based violin/guitar duo Brazz Tree continues to astound and endear audiences across the country with their new brand of music: New World Acoustic Rock (otherwise known as Music NWAR). Though it draws on traditional forms born in places as far-flung as Ireland and India, Music NWAR remains firmly rooted in the exuberant, questing ethos of the New World. After releasing their first CD “Quest” (DIY) in 2004 Brazz Tree spent over a year touring and writing before they brought the new songs to producers Alan Camlet and Pete Thompson. With a bevy of guest artists and producer Michael Leonhart (Steely Dan, Lenny Kravitz), Brazz Tree’s newest creation “Spiral On” is the next step in the evolution of Music NWAR. With songs like “Out of Time” and “In a Hole” the listener is taken on a musical journey. Brazz Tree has toured extensively throughout the country and the Netherlands playing colleges and Universities, Theaters, Clubs, and Art Centers. They were selected to perform at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, were on the Relix magazine compilation cd, and in their "Listen Up" section, and have received Radio play from across the country including a spotlight on NPR and Acoustic Cafe (ACAFE) as "one to watch” and performed on the Woodsongs Radio Hour... TOM CROWLEY AND THE SPEAKERS Click here to learn more and listen to Tom. Hailing from the popular music culture of Charlseton, South Carolina and a staple on the Fairfield County music scene, Tom Crowley and the Speakers broke into the rock scene in 2007 with their debut album, Tom Crowley. The band''s latest album, We Do We Go From Here, channels Tom Crowley''s bright arrangements with energetic guitar work to produce an effort bursting at the seams with ultra-catchy gems. With standout tracks like "Tug of War," already getting radio attention, Tom Crowley and the Speakers can count on loads of future success. Tom’s music has been featured on MTV’s “Made” and he can be seen this summer at “The Gathering of the Vibes”. THE PAUL GREEN SCHOOL OF ROCK MUSIC Visit School of Rock to learn more. The Paul Green School of Rock Music is an interesting and unique program that focuses on teaching children of a variety of ages how to play music, by using music itself. When one thinks of "The School of Rock", it could leave the reader with only an image of Jack Black strutting and sweating about, dawned in short shorts and shaggy hair. However, there is much more to the school aside from the movie that shares its name. Unlike more conventional ways of teaching music, Paul Green uses the hands-on, face first approach. From the first moment the children are introduced to the program, they are playing on actual equipment with actual musicians. As time goes on and their skills develop, they are able to soon play in actual live rock concerts, over 500 concerts for over 200,000 people a year to be exact, and exhibit their skills to the masses. Though the original school of rock was founded in Philadelphia, PA, the program spans throughout the entire United States, and even into Mexico. Some of the methods used to teach the tikes how to rock are accomplished by using music as not only an example, but also a tool. The melodic almost operatic quality of the legendary Queen''s music is used to aid the children in harmony arrangements. And genres such as punk help the children identify with the importance of stage presence and how to have it. And as readers may question how they could see these kids in action, luck is truly on their side, because the Fairfield-based school of rock will be joining us for this wonderful event.
